On March 26th, the IBC youth group went to New Tribes Bible Institute for a special youth event called “Horizon” where they were joined by about 60 other kids from local youth groups. The evening started off with playing the famous “9-square-in-the-air” game, followed up by a pizza dinner, and a session where Matt (on staff) illustrated what it takes to fulfill the Great Commission!
The kids had the opportunity to try their hand at learning a few words from a language in South America who only had an alphabet developed in the past 30 years or so! He also read one of the many letters from a remote unreached people group in Papua New Guinea who have been begging for the gospel message for years and are yet to be reached! The youth helped him strategize what it would take to reach a remote people group like this and plant a mature church there! At the end of the session, Matt’s closing question to each of us was “who will go?”. He emphasized the need to reach our community with the gospel, but to not stop there, rather to also look beyond to the rest of the world for whom Christ also died as stated in John 3:16.
All in all, it was a memorable and enjoyable evening while being encouraged to take our faith to the next level both here in our community and around the world!
