Psalm 8
- Who is God?
- God is the most transcendent, glorious Being in the Universe. (Psalm 145:3; 90:2)
- God is the absolute authority over the Universe
- We understand God’s greatness by noticing 2 things:
- What God has made (v. 1b, 3)
- Who He uses to accomplish His will (v. 2)
- What is Man?
- This is a rhetorical question.
- We are completely, utterly and scandalously sinful.
- Romans 3:9-18
- We are stubbornly, willingly and frustratingly rebellious.
- Romans 2:4-6
- We are absolutely spiritually dead.
- Ephesians 2:1-3
- How does God treat us?
- He thinks of us (v. 4a)
- He takes care of us (v. 4b)
- He honors us (v. 5)
- He gives us authority over the animals (vv. 6-8)
- He saves us (Hebrews 2:9-11)
- What’s the point? (Conclusions/Applications)
- Your opinion of God is way too low.
- Your opinion of yourself is way too high.
- Your opinion of Jesus is way too important.
