2 Timothy 2:14-19
- Introduction/Review
- The final thoughts or exhortations that Paul has expressed so far:
- I thank God for you.
- I pray for you.
- I long to see you.
- I am inspired by your faith.
- I call you to action.
- Do not be ashamed of the message or the messenger.
- Suffer for the sake of the gospel.
- Be strong in grace.
- Don’t break the chain–pass on what you have learned.
- Be faithful and focused.
- Remember Jesus Christ.
- Embrace the beauty of repetition.
- Don’t talk past each other.
- Be diligent to present yourself approved.
- Avoid empty chatter.
- Our focus this morning: We must fight our sin.
- Abstain from Wickedness (vv. 19-21)
- Why?
- Because the Lord knows who are His.
- Because we are God’s ambassadors.
- Because we want to be honorable vessels.
- Flee Youthful Lusts (v. 22)
- What makes lust youthful?
- Why should we flee these things?
- Because it is God’s will — 1 Thessalonians 4:3
- Because lust wages war against our souls — 1 Peter 2:11
- What should we do instead?
- Pursue Righteousness, Faith, Love, and Peace
- Don’t Go Beyond What is Written (v. 23)
- Don’t be Quarrelsome (vv. 24-26)

- Deal honestly with your sinfulness
- Do not love the fight more than the peace on the other side of the fight
